A circular route: Cerkno – Partizanska bolnica Franja – Poljane – Cerkno
This is an easier ride that takes you to the Franja Partisan Hospital, the renowned memorial to humanity, hidden in the Pasice gorge.
From the square Glavni trg in Cerkno turn right towards Novaki (and the Ski Centre Cerkno). Along the paved road, popular among recreation enthusiasts due to the 4 km of flat road, go all the way to the turning for the Franja Partisan Hospital, where the road takes you left up the slope.
When you reach the bar, you can continue on foot up the wild rocky gorge to see this remarkable historic monument. On the way back continue your ride along the gravel road across the stream and past the quarry. There’s a short climb to the nearest homestead where you just pass the buildings, down to the next stream and across the footbridge.
The path then leads you in the fresh cool through the forest, when you reach the sloping meadow, a beautiful view of the valley towards Cerkno is the reward.
To finish the tour you just have to reach the village Poljane with locally typical farmhouses and then down the steep slope to the main road, turn right and drive back to the starting point in Cerkno.
